Sandy, like sand on the beach

I am Sandra JS Coleman.

As a very young child, my parents tried to help me learn my name. With tubes in my ears at 13 months, I was a little behind on speech, but caught up fully by grade school. They would say, “Sandy, like sand on the beach.” I would repeat, “Handy on the beach!” I was an adorable little girl, if I do say so myself, with curly brunette hair. If you go into my parents living room and look on the wall, next to pictures of my siblings you’ll see a photo of me with a curl in the middle of my forehead. Have you heard the old children’s poem?

There was a Little Girl
By Henry-Wadsworth-Longfellow

There was a little girl,
Who had a little curl,
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good,
She was very good indeed,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

That’s me. I’ll tell you I was a relatively tame teen, and that my hubby made up for it, but it’s true, that poem is me… the good in me is Christ. I’m a mess with a love for my Savior and a desire to shake off this sinful self, leave this world striving after the wind, and run to Him.

I live with my husband and daughter in the Huntsville area of Alabama. Yes we want our family to grow… in fact, we may adopt a puppy (insert somewhat nervous face)! But in all seriousness, we’re a young family with a desire for more than one child in our family.

I want Christ to define me, not an illness or activities or profession, so I’ll share more about myself in a post but not here in this “about me”.
